Field Ecology Endangered Species Project
Name of Assignment: Endangered Species Project
Subject: Field Ecology
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Papini
Description of Work/Assignment: Research an endangered animal and make a clay model of it
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
I think this addresses Thinking and Problem Solving skills, as well as Global Awareness. I had to think and solve problems in order to complete the assignment, especially the clay model. Also, it falls under the category of Global Awareness, because we’re learning about our effect on the environment, and how animals respond to it.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am especially proud of the clay model, because it not only looks nice, but accurately portrays the animal I chose.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I developed Information Skills, because I needed to research and learn more about an animal.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult part was making the clay model. I’m not super great with clay, so it was a little tricky.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different?
I would try to add more information into the slide presentation, and really try to teach more about the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This relates to what I’ve learned in Field Science, about animals and their ecosystems.
How can you apply this to future learning?
This would apply to future learning if I was to take a Biology or Ecology class.
