Thinking and Problem Solving Skills: Acellus Physics
For these two quarters, I have been learning Physics through the Acellus program. So far, it has covered a range of topics, focusing on the mathematics that equate movement. I think this covers thinking and problem solving skills, because of the nature of the work I end up doing. In order to solve complex 2D motion problems, you need to be able to use kinematic equations, and find out how to solve for different variables. I feel most proud of being able to use math in actual real world situations. The fact that this was all done online was the most difficult part about it. I don't learn well at all from computers, and being forced to learn on nothing but a virtual platform is incredibly difficult for me. When you get a problem wrong on Acellus, it never tells you the correct answer or what mistakes you made, so learning is very challenging because you can't learn from your mistakes. I could improve my work by taking more detailed notes and by spending more time on it every day. This relates to much of what I learned in Algebra, but it ties it in to real world scenarios. Being able to use physics is actually something you could apply to your life and the real world. You can use it to determine projectile motion, and to solve for all kinds of different variables you want to know.
