Self Directional Skills: Math 103 Online Assignments
I think this assignment addresses Self Directional Skills. We only have class once a week, so I need to do most of the learning on my own. I need to be self directed and figure out how to complete the assignments. I feel proud that I am still doing pretty well in this class, even though I have trouble understanding the math. With these assignments, I developed my Self Directional Skills, as well as my Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. The most difficult part of these assignments is that they are online. It is much harder to learn, and understand concepts, instead, you're just trying to get them done. I think I could improve by spending more time, and trying to understand the concepts a little better. This relates to a lot of what I learned in Algebra 1. It builds on basic concepts that you learn there, and it also introduces more complicated types of problems. I can apply this to future learning, whenever I have a math class. Most advanced math uses the a lot of Algebra, so it is good to be skilled at it.
Work Sample
Factor the Expression
x^2+4x-12
To factor this, we'll use the reverse of the FOIL Method
Since we have X^2, we'll put it as the first variable in the parenthesis
(x+___)(x+___)
The we need a two numbers that add together to be 4x and multiply together to be -12
These numbers are -2, and 6
Our awnser is...
(x-2)(x+6)
